About the Instructor : James FellI first started thinking about Kali and Philipine Martial Arts, also referred to as FMA, Filipino Martial Arts, when I would read books, magazines and articles about Bruce Lee, while on my quest to learn Wing Chun, Jeet Kune Do, and Chinese Martial Arts, Dan Inosanto was mentioned, a friend of Bruce Lee, and he being a Filipino martial artist, a practitioner of Okinawan Karate, Judo, Jujutsu, Kenpo, and the Filipino Martial Arts like Kali, Arnis and Eskrima. Then I was enlightened to see the Bruce Lee movie Game Of Death with Dan Inosanto which increased my interest in the Philipine Martial Arts. I my quest to learn the Chinese Martial Arts like Wing Chun, Jeet Kune Do and Chin Na, I went to Los Angeles California where I thought I would have better chance for work and the martial arts. I found Dan Inosanto's training studio in Marina Del Rey. Then it just so happened that work and social activities lead me towards getting marred to one of my Philipine girl friends. After a couple years, I got a divorse and married another Philipine Chinese girl friend. This led to my move to Grapevine Texas, about 40 minutes above Fort Worth and 45 minutes from Dallas. During this time I was already practicing the Chinese and Philipine Martial Arts, Jeet Kune Do, Wing Chun, Chin Na, Kali and Eskrima. I was attending Wing Chun, Jeet Kune Do, and Kali meetups and Dan Inosanto and Francis Fong seminars, and trying out different local schools and instructors. I was with Trinity Martial Arts for a couple years practicing Kali Eskrima and JKD Jeet Kune Do, Then finally settling down with Rister Martial Arts that had classes in Kali Eskrima and Wing Chun, and also taught Jeet Kune Do and Silat. Sifu Guru Jon Rister was a student and top level instructor under Guru Dan Inosanto and Sifu Francis Fong. Currently, still attending Dan Inosanto seminars every year possible, Francis Fong Instructor Camps and private lessons 3 times a year and when possible, and Jon Rister seminars, camps, and private lessons when possible.
